Looking Back On 2022

12 December 2022 4 mins read

As the year draws to a close, the Filter team are feeling reflective – join us as we look back on our highlights from 2022.

A notepad with "2022 At a glance" written on it lies on a dark surface, accompanied by a pen and some green leaves.

As we’re moving quickly through Q4 of 2022, we thought we’d put together a list of our highlights from the last 12 months.

Filter has grown considerably in the last few years and even in the last 6 months or so, we have made changes to aid our future goals and objectives.

If you’re unfamiliar with our origin story, our agency was founded in 2016 by our CEO Oliver Morrison and our CTO Paul Halfpenny. You can read all about why they launched Filter here.

Keep reading for a recap of our year, showcasing some of our highlights of 2022:

We’ve Welcomed New Team Members

In the last 12 months, we have welcomed over 14 new colleagues to the company in areas such as our development, UI design, marketing and client services teams.

We recently introduced our newly appointed senior management team who will be working towards shared goals and objectives in the new year.

We Had Our First Company Social

In August, we organised our first summer social event for all of our staff, this was the first time many of our team met in-person.

As a remote-first agency, we recognise the benefits of remote working but it’s still nice to meet up IRL once in a while for some group activities. You can read more about our summer social here.

We Started Posting More Regularly

At the beginning of this year, we started to post more regularly to our social media accounts and our new marketing team implemented a more structured content plan. We posted over 124 updates to both LinkedIn and Twitter, gaining over 1,128 new followers across both platforms throughout the year.

Make sure to follow us on LinkedIn and Twitter for real-time updates.

Throughout 2022, we have posted 79 articles to our news section and we’ve published 6 new resource articles. The resources section of our website was created to help provide clarity to our audience on various digital topics, find out more here. If there are any topics you’d like us to cover during 2023, please make sure to let us know!

We Attended More Events

Our team have been venturing out into the world to attend more in-person events and we’ve had the pleasure of going to some great conferences and exhibitions.

We’ve published a summary of our experience at each event we attended, click the links below to find out more:

Paul Gave A Talk At WordCamp Europe & Visited WordCamp US

As part of our continued commitment to the WordPress community, Paul Halfpenny (CTO of Filter) attended various WordCamp events throughout the year.

In June, Paul was invited to Porto in Portugal to give a lightning talk at WordCamp Europe. Paul gave attendee’s an insight into personalisation within WordPress and explained how our WP-DXP plugin could benefit WP users.

We put together a few articles detailing Paul’s experience at WordCamp Europe, you can read more about what happened in Porto here.

Paul’s lightning talk was livestreamed via YouTube during the event and can be seen here:

In September, Paul also attended WordCamp US and got to hear from a variety of WordPress professionals, as well as taking part in an official contributor day. You can read more about Paul’s experience at the event here.

We’re hoping to attend more WordCamp events in 2023 so watch this space!

We Updated Our Free Plugin, WP-DXP

One topic we hope to cover at future WordPress focused events is the lack of personalisation features available within WordPress core.

As a result of this, we released several new updates for our free personalisation plugin WP-DXP this year. The plugin now has a wide range of use cases for everyday WP users and can be downloaded for free from the WordPress plugin repository. If you want to find out more about our plugin and its current features, you can read more here.

WP-DXP has also nominated in this years WP Awards!

We Became A WooCommerce Agency Partner

In September, we were thrilled to announce that we are now endorsed by WooCommerce, making us an official WooExpert.

The WooExpert Program consists of trusted agencies with a proven track record of building highly customized, scalable online stores. Membership is limited to a special few and is the only agency program vetted by WooCommerce.

You can read more about our partnership here.

We’ve worked with some amazing clients this year and we’re looking forward to helping more businesses in 2023. We recently added some new client stories to our website which you can read through here.

If you’re interested in working with our dedicated team on your next project, make sure to get in touch to organise a convenient time to talk.

In the meantime, if you’d like more day to day updates from us and our team, you can connect with our CEO Oliver Morrison or our CTO Paul Halfpenny on LinkedIn or follow our official company page here.
