We’re thrilled to launch a brand-new episode of UnFILTERED, focusing on the topic of digital sustainability, featuring industry experts Joost de Valk, Louise Towler and Si Cooke.
We’re aiming to publish a new episode each month during 2024 and we’ve got some great guests lined up!
Each episode showcases our CTO, Paul Halfpenny and Nathan Wrigley from WP Builds & This Week in WordPress as co-hosts. We invite different digital experts to join them to discuss key topics that affect businesses of all sizes and sectors.
In the latest episode of UnFILTERed, we sat down with Si Cooke (our Head of Business Development), Louise Towler (Founder of Indigo Tree & Kanoppi) and Joost de Valk (Founder of Yoast & Emilia Capital).
We were really excited to bring this group together and have an informed conversation about the topic of digital sustainability, why it’s important and the challenges involved for businesses and website builders.
The episode itself is available to watch over on our YouTube channel now, complete with helpful timestamps and additional links in the description.
Joost de Valk is an internet entrepreneur based in the Netherlands, known for founding Yoast. With a longstanding background in digital marketing and WordPress, Joost started Yoast in 2010 after a career as a digital marketing consultant.
In addition to his professional ventures, Joost is married to Marieke, who served as Yoast’s CEO until its sale in 2021. Together, they manage Emilia Capital, an investment company focusing on the digital space. Under Emilia Capital, Joost and Marieke actively invest in innovative projects such as PersonalizeWP. The Yoast SEO plugin, initially a hobby project, has grown to become Yoast’s primary product, currently active on over 13 million websites.
Louise Towler, Managing Director and Founder of Indigo Tree and Kanoppi, is a passionate professional in website design and development. As a Women In Innovation award winner, Louise specialises in WordPress and Core Web Vitals, as showcased in her presentation at Brighton SEO in April 2022.
Actively contributing to the development of Kanoppi, a WordPress carbon footprint measurement project, Louise is dedicated to the digital community. We were excited to collaborate with Kanoppi on The Marketer’s Guide to Sustainability in 2023 – an extensive resource offering real-world insights, actionable recommendations, important data and more.
