On Friday 19th July, our global remote-first team came together for an exciting team-building event in the heart of London. Despite our pre-event warning to bring an umbrella due to the unpredictable British summer, the day turned out to be the hottest of the year, reaching a sweltering 31 degrees. This didn’t stop our resilient team from having a great day out though, it just meant the day included more water and more breaks in the shade!

As a fully remote agency, we make the most of every chance to gather in person to celebrate our achievements and reinforce our strong company values. We kicked off the day at The Lucky Saint pub and then set off on a thrilling scavenger hunt across the city, creating lasting memories and strengthening our team bonds.

Exploring London Through a Scavenger Hunt

The day’s main event was a scavenger hunt that sent our team racing across London to discover iconic landmarks and complete simple challenges. We split into smaller groups, each tasked with finding and photographing items that included a classic teapot, Paddington Bear, a ride in a black cab or a double-decker bus and famous theatre shows. The friendly (and sometimes not-so-friendly!) competition ignited as teams strategised and collaborated to check off as many items as possible, racking up points along the way.

Our CTO, Paul Halfpenny, added a last-minute item to the list: “find Depeche Mode merchandise.” While we’re assured this had nothing to do with his deep admiration for the band or his quest for new memorabilia, it’s worth noting that the merchandise did seem to mysteriously vanish by the end of the night.

Embracing Our Core Values Through Fun and Games

At the heart of this event was our commitment to our company values. We take pride in our hard-working team and recognise their dedication as key to our success. This year has been exceptionally busy with a variety of client projects, making it crucial to take time to relax and have some fun.

As a remote team from various countries, in-person gatherings are vital for building personal connections and team morale. Exploring London was not just about the game; it was an opportunity to showcase the city’s rich culture and charm to our global team, who don’t always get the time to take it all in.

Summary

Our team-building event in London was more than just a day of fun, it was a celebration of our company’s ethos and a reminder of the incredible team spirit that drives our success. From scavenger hunts to sharing laughs and experiences, we reaffirmed our commitment to valuing our team and maintaining a healthy balance between hard work and play.

As the cherry on top of an amazing day, we are sending our winning team a care package from Wellbox which includes a charitable donation to Mind, a reputable mental health charity.

As we continue to deliver exceptional digital solutions, we look forward to many more opportunities to come together, creating lasting memories and achieving new milestones together.
