The AWS North Community Conference is the leading cloud computing event in the North East, bringing together technology leaders, developers and innovators to explore how AWS is transforming how we build, scale and innovate digital solutions.

Built by the community for the community, the conference celebrates the region’s tech ecosystem while providing opportunities for knowledge sharing, collaboration and professional growth.

Sharing Our Expertise

PHP Specialist and Technical Architect, Tom Staunton, represented Filter at the conference, delivering an insightful presentation titled Amazon ECS: Containerising a High-Volume e-Commerce Application.

The talk explored how to leverage Amazon’s Elastic Container Service to build scalable, high-performing e-commerce platforms. Drawing on real-world experience from Filter projects, Tom shared practical strategies for deploying containerised applications to support growth, resilience and efficiency.

Presenting at AWS North marked an important milestone for Tom and our team, demonstrating the depth of our technical expertise and our commitment to sharing knowledge with the wider tech community.

Delivering my first public technical talk was both nerve-wracking and rewarding. The AWS North Community Conference was a brilliant opportunity to exchange ideas with other architects and learn from talks that directly relate to challenges we’re solving at Filter.

Learning from the broader AWS community

Tom was also able to attend sessions focused on challenges that align with our current work, such as how to manage slow response times from third-party API calls. These talks provided valuable insight into modern cloud architecture and emerging best practices.

The conference also offered opportunities to connect with AWS experts, technical architects and industry leaders, reinforcing the importance of collaboration, continuous learning and staying ahead when it comes to cloud innovation.

Building on AWS partnership success

Tom’s appearance at AWS North comes a few months after we were officially recognised as an AWS Select Tier Partner, a significant milestone that validates our expertise in AWS technologies and our focus on delivering scalable, high-performing digital solutions.

This achievement, combined with participation in community-led events like AWS North, strengthens our connection to AWS and supports our mission to drive expertise, innovation and growth across everything we build.

Summary

Our involvement in the AWS North Community Conference highlights our dedication to technical excellence and thought leadership. With our Select Tier Partner status and continued investment in cloud expertise, we’re proud to share knowledge, learn from peers in the industry and contribute to the next generation of cloud-powered digital solutions.
