It was an unforgettable experience that brought together WordPress enthusiasts, developers, and professionals from around the world. Our team had a fantastic time and returned with newfound inspiration and knowledge.

The Filter Team

This year, we took a larger group than ever before, including:

  • Key members of our talented development team
  • Emma Robinson, Project Manager
  • Rachel Berry, Head of Client Services
  • Paul Halfpenny, CTO
  • Si Cooke, Head of Business Development
  • Chris Murfin, Head of Development
  • Allie Tupper, Project Manager

The diverse expertise and passion each team member brought, added immense value to our overall experience.

Before the event, we all noted down the speaker sessions, workshops and activities that we most wanted to visit. On each day of the conference, we then splintered off to take a divide and conquer approach, ensuring we take in as much information as possible.

Celebrating WordPress

The event was a true celebration of WordPress, showcasing the latest advancements, innovative techniques, and industry insights. The sessions were led by a lineup of exceptional industry experts who shared their expertise and experiences, inspiring us to push the boundaries of our work.

Networking played a vital role in our experience, we had the pleasure of connecting with fellow professionals, exchanging ideas and forming valuable new relationships. It was inspiring to engage in conversations that fuelled our creativity and provided fresh perspectives on the ever-evolving digital landscape.

Our team even got to meet some WordPress “celebrities” such as the infamous Remkus de Vries – who recently joined Paul as a guest on episode 252 of This Week in WordPress, with host Nathan Wrigley (of WP Tavern).

WordCamp Europe 2023 was definitely one of the best WordCamp events I’ve attended, it was amazing to see so many like-minded and talented individuals gathered in one place to celebrate the platform.

Speaker Sessions

One highlight of our time at WordCamp Europe was the opportunity to attend sessions led by renowned speakers such as:

I really enjoyed the talk by Cathi Bosco, I’ve always been interested in UX Design and the brilliant minds of those who specialise in this area. Lots of great tips and tricks to advocate for user experience in WordPress design.

Pitching to Emilia Capital

Another highlight of our time in Athens was getting the opportunity to pitch to Emilia Capital for support with our personalisation plugin, PersonalizeWP.

Emilia Capital features investors and business mentors Joost de Valk & Marieke van de Rakt, who are infamous for building the widely adopted Yoast SEO plugin for WordPress.

Emilia Capital attended WordCamp Europe 2023 in Athens, Greece as a sponsor.

The organisation set up an investment booth for potential collaboration prospects and allowed individuals to book a 10 minute slot.

Shared Dedication

Being surrounded by a community who are passionate about WordPress was truly energising.

The collective enthusiasm and shared dedication made WordCamp Europe 2023 an exceptional environment for collaboration and growth.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the organisers of WordCamp Europe 2023 for orchestrating an extraordinary event.

The smooth execution, diverse content, and warm hospitality made our experience truly memorable.

If you couldn’t make it to Athens you can still catch all of the amazing speaker sessions by visiting the WordCamp Europe YouTube Channel.
