At Filter, we’re proud to be a remote-first, versatile team. With colleagues based across England, Scotland, Amsterdam and beyond, our setup gives us the flexibility to balance work and life while delivering exceptional results for our clients. However, we also understand that it’s important to meet up in person to strengthen relationships and create some great memories.

After an incredible year of growth, becoming a team of over 40 talented individuals and completing a range of innovative client projects – we decided it was time to celebrate. For our latest team social, we headed to Birmingham for a day of creativity, camaraderie, and fun. Before jumping into the main activities, we stopped by New Street Station to visit one of our valued clients, JD Wetherspoon, setting the tone for an exciting day ahead.

A Sweet Challenge: The Big Birmingham Bake

The highlight of our day in Birmingham was our visit to the Big Birmingham Bake. We split into teams, put on our aprons, and tackled the challenge of creating anti-gravity cakes. For many of us, this was a completely new experience and there were definitely a few nervous faces as we got started. With teamwork, determination and plenty of laughs, everyone got stuck in and the cakes slowly began to take shape.

By the end of the session, we were all amazed by what we’d achieved. Allie, Ranjani and Martin emerged as the winners, taking home a rose gold cake cutter as their prize but everyone left feeling like a winner. We each got to take our cakes home and it’s safe to say they tasted as good as they looked! The activity was not only fun but also a great way to bring the team together and boost everyone’s confidence along the way.

At Filter, we have something truly special – the Filter Way. It’s a philosophy that puts family first and values the strength of our team above all else. Every day, we achieve success together because of the passion, dedication, and talent of the remarkable people I’m privileged to work alongside. It was great to get together to celebrate our success.

Karaoke and Culinary Delights

After the baking session, the fun continued at a nearby venue where we enjoyed some much-needed food and drinks. But the highlight of the evening was undoubtedly Filter Karaoke. From heartfelt renditions of musical classics like Les Misérables and Grease to bold takes on unexpected tracks like “Mack the Knife” and even some Limp Bizkit, our team brought energy and creativity to the floor.

The performances were as unique as the people in our team. It was a fantastic way to unwind, celebrate and showcase the personality and culture that make our team so special.

As if the day wasn’t packed enough, three of our team members even got up early the next morning to take on the Edgbaston Reservoir park run! A fantastic way to keep the energy flowing and start the day on a high.

Looking Ahead

Our day in Birmingham served as a reminder of how far we’ve come as a team and why moments like these are so important. Taking time to step away from our screens and connect in person strengthens the bonds that enable us to collaborate so effectively every day.

As we look to the future, we’re excited about what’s next for our team and our clients. And, of course, we’re already thinking about our next team adventure – stay tuned for more updates on where we’ll head next!
