Find out how Allie Tupper is helping shape the WordPress community, one meetup at a time.
At Filter, we’re proud to be part of the WordPress community, a space built on shared learning and collaboration. That’s why we always encourage our team members to take part in industry events like WP London (WPLDN), not only to stay at the forefront of the latest information but also to contribute to the community that powers it.
Our very own Allie Tupper, award-winning Project Manager and 2024 BIMA Award recipient for Client Services and Project Management, recently attended the April 25th edition of #WPLDN. Allie is a semi-regular attendee at the event and previously joined when our CTO, Paul Halfpenny, gave a presentation on our WordPress personalisation plugin, PersonalizeWP.
Though Allie works remotely, like many of us at Filter, she always appreciates the occasional opportunity to connect in person with fellow professionals: “I don’t always have the time to actually leave the house and go to WPLDN each month, but whenever I do, it’s a rewarding and enjoyable experience.”
She praised the event’s thoughtful organisation, led by Dan and Nathan, as well as the laid-back and friendly vibe: “Technically, the chat part is Networking, but it’s far more relaxed and chatty than any other ‘Networking’ event I’ve been to, this is a compliment.”
These meetups offer a welcome space for casual but valuable conversations, complementing the strong collaboration we enjoy through remote working.
This month’s session featured two standout talks that delivered a mix of humour, technical insight, and practical tips:
“10 Things I Hate About You(r Website)” by James Forward
A light-hearted but spot-on critique of common web build missteps—especially when taking over a site from another team. Allie took away key reminders of what not to do during a build:
“Woo Block Theming 2025!” by Jakson
With a bold live demo, Jakson explored the current state of WooCommerce block theming, highlighting both the possibilities and the quirks. As a project manager, Allie doesn’t typically get deep into the technical implementation, but appreciated the extra exposure: “Jakson’s talk gave me insights into the nuts and bolts of WooCommerce, as a Project Manager, I usually leave that to the developers!”
We’re excited to share that Allie will be speaking at WP London on the 29th May 2025, sharing her top project management tips to keep WordPress projects running smoothly, from kick-off to delivery. Drawing on her journey from developer to PM, it’s set to be a session full of practical takeaways.
Allie’s continued involvement in WPLDN is a testament to Filter’s belief in shared learning and community impact. As she put it: “Working remotely, you can get stuck in your own little bubble… Chatting with fellow WordPressers always helps to expand your focus.”
Remote work gives our team the flexibility and focus they need to thrive but connecting face-to-face brings another layer of inspiration and energy that helps shape our thinking.
At Filter, we believe in showing up, sharing insights and staying curious. Whether remotely or in-person, we’re committed to contributing to the digital space in meaningful and practical ways. We’re proud to support Allie as she prepares to take the stage in May and we look forward to the conversations that follow.
