Laguna Tools is a US manufacturer of high-performance woodworking and metalworking machinery, used by clients like NASA, Ford and Tesla. Their tools help businesses boost efficiency and precision.
To modernise their digital experience and meet rising demand, Laguna Tools partnered with Filter to transform their WooCommerce-powered WordPress site. The focus was on improving brand perception, simplifying product discovery and creating a more scalable, flexible CMS.
Designing a New Website to Transform the Laguna Tools Brand
Laguna Tools needed a website that matched the innovation and quality of its machinery. The existing design was visually outdated and structurally complex, making it difficult for users to explore products and for the internal team to scale content efficiently.
Filter worked closely with Laguna Tools to deliver a phased strategy that would both improve the short-term visual experience and lay the groundwork for long-term growth. Introducing WooCommerce as the eCommerce solution to transact via the website. The result is a stronger brand presence, a more streamlined user experience and a platform better equipped to evolve with business needs.
The new website launched in December 2024
WordPress redesign and build support project to enhance brand and drive product engagement
Laguna Tools offers a vast and technically complex product catalogue, serving customers with very different needs across sectors. The existing website struggled to present this information clearly or intuitively.
The design no longer reflected the premium nature of the brand, and the use of Elementor introduced limitations for future scalability and content flexibility.
Filter’s challenge was to design a future-ready solution that would simplify the structure, improve the look and feel and give the in-house team a clear path forward for more advanced implementation using the WordPress Block Editor.
We used a two-phase approach to deliver quick wins while planning for long-term growth. Phase one focused on supporting their development team with a visual refresh, reskinning the existing Elementor site with updated UI designs to improve aesthetics, responsiveness and content clarity.
Phase two involved creating a detailed Project Definition Document (PDD), outlining a strategic roadmap for rebuilding the site with the WordPress Block Editor. This included page structures, plugin recommendations and best practices for scalability.
Our Discovery process, including stakeholder interviews, competitor analysis and a site audit, shaped the direction. It ensured UX and UI decisions aligned with user behaviour and business goals.
The new website design delivers a more cohesive and visually appealing user experience that aligns with Laguna Tools’ brand identity. Responsive templates and simplified navigation have improved usability, particularly for mobile users, while enhancing product discoverability.
Filter’s customised PDD gave Laguna Tools’s development team a clear framework for moving to the WordPress Block Editor. With this strategy in place, the internal team can continue building out a dynamic and flexible platform that supports current objectives and future expansion.
This project demonstrates how thoughtful, phased delivery can transform a digital presence without overwhelming internal teams or delaying results. By balancing immediate design upgrades with long-term strategic planning, Filter helped Laguna Tools elevate their brand while preparing for scalable growth.
The new website is not just a visual upgrade. It is a foundational step toward a more powerful and flexible platform that empowers the Laguna Tools team to communicate value, improve usability and reach more customers across industries.
