Preparing an award-winning insurer for the agentic web

Filter worked with Homeprotect to make its Home Risk Calculator usable directly by AI browser assistants. When a customer asks an AI agent about their home’s risk, the agent gathers the details in a natural conversation and takes the customer straight to their personalised results on homeprotect.co.uk, with no form to fill in.

Overview

Homeprotect is a specialist home insurer for customers often overlooked by mainstream insurers. Filter has worked with Homeprotect for more than 3 years, delivering a new corporate website and leading ongoing improvements and targeted projects to keep pace with evolving technology and customer expectations.

Agentic web browsers are an emerging technology that use AI agents to complete tasks for users on the internet, replacing standard browsing. WebMCP (Web Model Context Protocol) allows organisations to expose their data and functionality as structured “tools” that AI agents can use for this purpose. WebMCP tells AI agents what a site can do and what information it needs. The AI agent then handles the conversation with the customer. To prepare Homeprotect for this, Filter built and tested a read-only tool on every page of the site, which acts as the AI agent’s front door to the Home Risk Calculator.

Results

The integration is built, tested and live on homeprotect.co.uk. Browsers in the UK and EU don’t support WebMCP yet, so customers can’t use it today, but it is being trialled in the US and wider adoption is expected to follow. When it arrives, Homeprotect will be ready from day one, a point its parent company Avantia highlighted in a recent press release.
