API’s

One of the key tools to ultimately create bespoke digital solutions

Introduction

API stands for Application Programme Interface, which enables two software components to ‘talk’ to each other using definitions and protocols.

About API’s

If a piece of software can be separated from its environment, it can be the A in API which can be used in a wide variety of ways.
You can easily combine a number of systems together to achieve a specific goal or create a more bespoke solution. For example, you may want to connect your CRM and booking system to create a custom solution for clients to book a meeting or product showcase.

The Benefits Of Using An API

Integrating an API can help you to save time and improve efficiency by delivering information directly to the end-user.
There are an infinite number of possibilities when it comes to using API’s, they can be adapted for a lot of different uses.
One of the most common examples of an API being used is weather information, something most of us do pretty regularly (especially if you’re based in the UK!). Many websites and devices offer weather data but they source the actual information from another party, using an API. The weather data is sent from a third party source and it is then reformatted for that specific channel/brand.
